Erratic Driving Stop Leads To DWI Charge For Northern Westchester Man

A man from Northern Westchester is facing DWI charges after he was pulled over for driving erratically, police say.

Yorktown Police responded to a report of an erratic driver on Crompond Road (Route 202) on Friday, Nov. 22 around 9:30 p.m.

The vehicle was located, and further investigation revealed that the driver, identified as Ravinder Nagpaul, 67, of Mohegan Lake, was driving while intoxicated, police say.

Nagpaul subsequently refused to submit to a breath test and was placed under arrest, police say. He was transported to headquarters, processed and charged with the following:

  • First-degree driving while intoxicated (first offense), an unclassified misdemeanor
  • Aggravated driving while intoxicated (BAC of .18 or more), an unclassified misdemeanor
  • Refusal to take a breath test, a traffic infraction

Nagpaul was ticketed and released on his own recognizance to a responsible third party. He is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Thursday, Dec. 5.
